The Lettermen Report

About

Who we are, and the standards we publish under

Advertising Policy

Published by Colosseum Sports LLC · Effective 01.01.2026 — Reviewed annually

01

Purpose

This policy governs all advertising, sponsorship, and commercial content appearing on Lettermen Report properties. It is written to ensure that our commercial activity is consistent with the mission of interscholastic athletics and with the standards of the CIF Southern Section.

02

Free and Open Access

Lettermen Report is free to read. The site does not operate a paywall, a subscription tier, a metered limit, or any members-only content restriction. No article, score, statistic, or video is placed behind payment or registration.

03

Prohibited Advertising Categories

Lettermen Report does not accept, display, or run advertising, sponsorship, affiliate placement, or promotional content in any of the following categories, in any format, on any Lettermen Report property:

  • Alcohol — including beer, wine, spirits, and any alcohol brand, retailer, or venue promotion;
  • Tobacco and nicotine — including cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, vaping, e-cigarettes, and nicotine pouches;
  • Drugs of any kind — including cannabis and cannabis-derived products (whether or not legal in the jurisdiction), kratom, and any product marketed for intoxication;
  • Gambling of any kind — including sportsbooks, casinos, daily fantasy sports, betting odds, handicapping services, prediction markets, lotteries, and sweepstakes with paid entry;
  • Political parties, candidates, campaigns, ballot measures, and issue advocacy;
  • Firearms, ammunition, and weapons;
  • Adult content, dating services, and sexually oriented businesses;
  • Performance-enhancing substances, unregulated supplements, and weight-loss products;
  • Payday lending, cryptocurrency speculation, and other predatory or high-risk financial products;
  • Any other advertising that, in the sole judgment of the Editor-in-Chief, is in poor taste or inconsistent with the mission of interscholastic athletics.
04

Automated Ad Networks

Because programmatic advertising networks cannot reliably guarantee exclusion of the categories above, Lettermen Report does not run untargeted programmatic display advertising. Any advertising network used must support category-level blocking of every prohibited category listed in Section 3, and that blocking must be verified in writing before the network is enabled. Absent that verification, the network is not used.

05

Direct Advertising Standards

  • All advertising relationships are reviewed and approved by the Editor-in-Chief before an advertisement runs.
  • Advertisers' products and services must be appropriate to a general audience that includes minors.
  • Lettermen Report reserves the right to decline or discontinue any advertisement at any time, for any reason, without obligation to state a cause.
06

Separation of Advertising and Editorial

  • Advertisers have no right of review, approval, or influence over editorial content, story selection, or timing. Purchasing advertising confers no favorable coverage and no protection from coverage.
  • Advertising is visually and structurally distinct from editorial content.
  • Any sponsored, paid, or partner content is clearly and conspicuously labeled as such at the top of the item, and is not presented in a manner that could be mistaken for independent reporting.
  • Affiliate links, where used, are disclosed.
07

Student-Athletes in Advertising

  • Lettermen Report does not use the name, image, likeness, or voice of a high school student-athlete in any advertisement, sponsorship, or promotional material.
  • Lettermen Report does not sell, broker, or facilitate name, image, and likeness arrangements involving high school student-athletes, and does not accept compensation from any party in connection with such arrangements.
  • Lettermen Report does not accept advertising from NIL collectives, recruiting services, or agents seeking to reach high school student-athletes.
08

Enforcement and Contact

Concerns regarding any advertisement appearing on Lettermen Report may be directed to: Hamilton Hauck, Editor-in-Chief — hammer@colosarena.com. Lettermen Report will review any such concern and remove non-compliant advertising promptly.
